Safety Instructions for Your dōTERRA Oils

1. Storage of essential oils.

Keep your oils out of reach from children, in room temperature and out of the sun. This box is very convenient for your oils at home, you can order it at dōTERRA: www.mydoterra.com

2. Supervise children on essential oil use.

Children love essential oils! But essential oils are very strong and we want kids to have positive experiences.

The kids collection is safe for kids from 5 years old, and a great way for your kid to learn to take care of him or herself in daily challenges like: feeling uncomfortable, restless, shy, having belly-pain or headache or when your kid needs focus, calmness, courage or strength.

The oils in the kids collection are safely diluted and in rollers so they can be directly applied to kids' sensitive skin.

3. NEVER use essential oils IN eyes, ears or nose.

If you get oils in your eyes, ears or nose, grab a kitchen oil to rinse it out. As water and oils do not mix, washing out with water does not work. Grab an olive-oil, fractionated coconut-oil, avocado-oil, sunflower oil, argan-oil etc in case of emergency!

4. Dilute essential oils according to age and local skin sensitivity.

For children, elders or sensitive skin, you want to dilute oils before application. Roller-bottles and fractionated coconut oil are ideal to do this. In the next e-mail we will help you get the right products in your home.

5. Try out an essential oil on your forearm first.

Your forearm is a safe and sensitive piece of skin. What we really like about essential oils is that they invite you to get to know your body. Experience is everything!

When you get redness or irritation: dilute this oil more. We will help you get the fractionated coconut oil to dilute with.

Some essential oils are HOT by nature and will give you redness to skinburn, so they should always be diluted with fractionated coconut oil before putting them on your skin. HOT oils include CassiaCinnamon BarkCloveOregano, and Thyme. The hot-ness of these oils have great health benefits and we use them often like the body uses heat when we have a fever.

An example for you; Oregano is not only used in capsules to treat infections, oregano is also amazing to get rid of warts. Apply a tiny bit of oregano on the wart with a cotton swab and repeat 3 times a day for a few days. Be careful as oregano can burn the skin around the wart.

6. Carry essential oils in glass or steel bottles, not in plastic.

As essential oils are more powerful than plastic, they might dissolve the plastic. We do not recommend you to consume microplastics, so carry a glass or steel bottle and add 1-3 drops of oil. Detox, support and hydrate your body!

Recommended oils: Lemon, lime, wild orange, grapefruit, fennel.

Add essential oils to your water for a refreshing taste and as an alternative to sodas and sugary drinks. When taken internally, these essential oils can naturally cleanse the body and aid in digestion.

7. Do not apply citrus oils on sun exposed skin.

Citrus oils make your skin more sun-sensitive, so take at least 2 hours before going in the sun after applying citrus oils on your skin, or cover your skin with clothing or a hat.

8. dōTERRA’s quality is suitable for internal use

dōTERRA is extremely careful and therefore only oils of supermarket available herbs and fruits, will say “for food flavoring” on their label.

Examples are lemon, on guard (blend of wild orange, cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus and rosemary) and zengest (blend of: anise, peppermint, fennel, ginger, coriander, tarragon and caraway).

Our experience is that The Essential Life is the most accurate guide on the internal use and benefits of ingesting essential oils. We call this book also the essential oil Bible and it is often sold out! If you can get it…. get it…
